Solutions that work at home
Organizing means different things to different people. Once your goals are clear, we'll work together to meet them in a fashion that suits you, the client.
Specialized support for seniors
We know that getting older isn't easy. JMPO not only provides physical support in sorting through the build-up, but we do it with care and compassion. Our senior clients often don't have local family available to support them. JMPO can assist with managing papers, clearing floors to eliminate fall hazards, and re-arranging spaces to get the most important things in the easiest-to-access places. Our clients share the best stories and we are delighted to share their journeys.
What can I expect
Some clients want a strategy to get out from under things on their own. A session can be spent assessing any or all parts of the house as well as setting your goals.
Some clients want hands on support. We will get surfaces opened up, shelves sorted out, floors cleared. We can find homes for everything, and we work together on every decision.
We don't decide what stays or what goes. That is up to you! You know your things better than anyone. If you are stuck, we'll guide you to a decision that feels right for you and meets your stated goals.
Strategy and hands on work can be combined. In some situations, a team approach can accelerate our work, lower the cost and/or provide additional services.
A single session is at least 3 hours and will get you going. It may or may not be enough to complete your project.
You do not need to clean up before we arrive. Really! It's important for us to see your regular life and where the obstacles lay.
We provide a written summary of what we do, what's still to be done, resources and ideas.
Joan McCreary worked with my disabled sister to help her with some serious organizational and physical safety issues. Joan was able to set up physical storage that cleared a lot of space in my sister's small apartment, and enabled her to part with stuff that she really didn't need. Joan was able to eliminate certain physical hazards as well (such as stray electrical cords that were tripping hazards). She helped my sister organize her paperwork and filing and simplify her bill-paying and record-keeping. Throughout the process, Joan was sensitive to my sister's feelings and needs, yet firmly guided her toward the necessary objectives. I highly recommend Joan, especially where there may be emotional/cognitive issues involved."
